As a complete newbe, this question may have been asked before, so I apologise. I work with a friend who does
bike tours to the tour de france and the giro d'italia as a photographer and general dogs body. I've got lots of photo's of his clients, the scenery and profesional bike racers. What images can I sell? I know that the tour de france are sueing people who advertise or even mention their name on bike tour websites so I presume that I cannot sell any images of the pro racers but what about profesionals in general or even my friends clients?

Hi Tim
As royalty free (RF) images there is virtually nothing you can sell that contains a recognisable person without a model release, or a make of bike or car, or recognisable team colour or logo without a property release.
No RF stock site accepts anything like this without the relevant releases, although things may be different with sites like Alamy or Getty that sell images for editorial use. You may like to check out some of these sites.
However, if you have some pictures of cyclists wizzing past you in a colourful unidentifyable blur I'm sure the RF sites will snap them up.
Hope that helps.
Bill

Several of the Misrcostock agencies are accepting editorial photos as long as they are markeds as such. They may have some restrictions, but check with Dreamstime and Shutterstock as they both have editorial categories.
