SS is the original site I have dealt with. it continues to be my best site. downloads are abiut 2 to 1 over other sited but teh revenue is about equal to two other sites I am on.. Lower payout per photo. Rejections sometiem seem arbitrary, but I have learned alot from theis site.

Many photographers hate subscription agency like this, why? 1. subscription sales are much more destructive for the business as a whole, than microstock in general. Subscriptions enable customers to build large image archives that reduces the need to download photos in the future and thus our (photographers) profit potential.
2. average subscribers only use about 15 - 30% of the full potential of their membership. This means that most pictures in a subscription sell at a 5-6USD price-point in average, giving us (photographers) about 25 cents in commission. A bottom-line commission of about 5 percent. Even if I was totally wrong and every subscriber actually downloaded the double of what I have heard, the commission would still only be 10%.

4. Deep Discounts
For example, on DT, a submitter receives 0.30 for a subscription. That is a 93% discount from the normal royalty (of $8 for a maximum size image with over 100 sales). On SXP, a submitter receives 0.30 for a subscription. That is a 97% discount from the normal royalty (of $10 for an XXL image)
5. Macro Buyers
Second, the buyers that are purchasing subscription packages are normally the large agencies that need lots and lots of images. These are the agencies that used to purchase macrostock images for $100s (if not $1,000s) of dollars apiece. These are the customers that could actually afford to purchase images individually (if needed). According to the financial news, this is a multi-billion dollar industry. They have deep pockets. But yet, they now want to offer them even deeper discounts (over 95% off) on images that are already cheap. It makes no sense

I just got a blanket rejection of all photos sumitted for the initial approval at SS. These were the cleanest photos imaginable, and all approved by I-stock, Dreams, 123 etc. I went over every square inch at 300-500 %! Do you think someone was just having a bad day? I'm simply unable to produce anything cleaner. I use 1ds mkII, raw etc. I've been a photog and designer forever. I simply don't know what to do...any suggestions?

It's a great site, but sales spike higher when you upload. Then the downloads drastically slow down. I guess the secret is to keep uploading little by little.

Super fast at approvals and Sales are great compared to other sites!

Application process is rough. I uploaded my best pics which sell like crazy on other sites, and every single one was rejected. (you need 7 out of 10 to be approved).

I make about twice as much here as all the other stock sites combined. I think this ones the best.

They have a minimum 7 out of 10 that need to be approved when you are in the review mode, I tried 3 times and each time I'd get 6 'approved'. Some of my top sellers on other sites weren't approved, usually for 'noise'!! If I were to reduce noise any further the images would get so 'plasticky'. When I submit the next time even the ones they didn't have any problems the previous time would be rejected.
I just gave up since other sites seemed to be better.

Sales continue to slow, but if I upload its still my best earning agency.

Just increased sales price for stock photographers. This is great. They also accept more vectors and 3d stuff of mine than other sites.
