as an artist I have found many other sites are better for finding reference shots for my flower and animal paintings.

Among the big sites is the worst because:
a) they pay you .25 us cents for a xxl size photo with their subscription rates.
b) their forum is like a nazi party reunion, their logic is "with us or against us"
c) their approval times is not the fastest and besides that is not very intellingent.
d) they have an "editorial line" quite old fashioned. In MHO is much more modern and hip Istock or Fotolia.

Irecently had an experience that gives me pause. In fact I'm thinking of pulling out of DT as soon as I get my payout.
The way the reviewer answered my last submission was rether crude and seemed like he/she wanted to take revenge when I resubmitted the images. The reviewer piled on a lot of remarks that didn't even apply to my images - unprofessional!
In addition my sales on that site have droped considerably; so the aggravation from their reviewers is not something I care to tolerate any more. They don't need me, and I don't need them. I already found a nice replacement.
Sometimes sites like Shutterstock and Dreamstime tend to get a little rough with the contributors. I understand the need to maintain quality, but you don't have to get nasty about it!

SimplyGreen, LOL, I suspected that people were doing that.

I have recently joined Dreamstime and I totally love it! I'm sure you will too! :P

I hope I don't tick anyone off saying this. This is what I do:
Shop iStock for the images I like. Then I go get them at Dreamstime! So much cheaper. Most photographers sell at both agencies.
Fast Track Designs
An excellent source for royalty free images. Not as expensive as istockphoto!

A great site. Growing fast, starting to get more exclusive images.
