Hi, hope all of you are well. I decided on the Canon XTI but just dont know where to purchase from. Was going to buy from Staples they have the kit for $599 but every store is out of stock. Circuit City had the kit for $649.99 nervous about going there. Wolf camera will not honor the Circuit City price do to it being a web price(that CC honors in their store. Has anyone dealt with mail order places? Is it safe? Im realizing now that even if I purchase the Camera body or kit locally. None of the brick and mortar stores carry specific lenses I want to purchase. Sorry with all the questions just want to do this the safe way. Im want to buy the xti either body or kit. Then want the 1.8 50mm everyone talks about and the 85mm that I hear good things about.
Also want to buy a tablet and a photoshop dummies book lol(adobe ps 7.0)
What else do you folks think I will need to get started?

Thanks,Rocco

Rocco,

My very favorite camera store is B&H Photo Video in Manhattan, with a good online shop as well(www.bhphotovideo.com/). They've a huge selection and while the prices aren't always the they're pretty good.

I was thinking of going with them. My fear is that the camera gets to me and its used or been returned by someone else. The prices are great. i can get the XTI with the kit lens and the 50mm 1.8 for the same price as just the XTI kit at Circuit City.

Do you have a specific reason for thinking so? I think they're a very reputable store. I've never had such problems purchasing from them.

Cheers,

Its not about B&H its about 2 purchases I made in the past and when received both were used items. I was hoping to see some sales today in the Sunday paper for Canon cameras but seems to be Nikon ads in all the major retailers.
