I have been looking at adding ShutterPoint to my ranking and listing sections. Has anyone had any experiences there? Sales?

Shutterpoint - perhaps I am thinking of the wrong place (there is a shutter???? something) but, is that the one that you are required to pay for space?

I tend to stay away from pay sites. If I want to pay to sell my images I can do it from my own website

And perhaps it's not the place I'm thinking of, in which case I haven't been there either.

I am mostly trying to stay away from places that sell images for $1 or $2 (though I've signed up on MicroStock Photo just recently) and am concentrating on places that have a minimum price of $5 or $10 per image. Initially I'd think the sales will certainly be slower.

Hmm.. Didn't realize they make you pay to store your photos. I think I'll make a rule that to be listed you can't charge photographers to sell their images.

Does anyone sell here? Is this model popular?

What do you think?

They charge a 15% commission to the photographer, though the photographer sells their work directly and sets their price. You also pay them up front for the privilege of getting the storage space for your pics.

I know two photogs who are signed up their, but are finding it very slow - a couple of sales in the past 8 months for each of them. It's almost a matter of doing your own advertising in order to get people to your images. They do tell you they promote your images, but i don't expect it would be much.

I have recently put a few of my photos on shutterpoint. They do charge a small fee for space on the site (500MB for $12.00 and lasting six months) which I don't think is terribly bad compared to other photo stock sites. The only step in the process is uploading your photo to the site, and stating your pricing, and they basically set up everything else for you, which is nice. So far I don't have any bites on my photos, but I do agree that I am kind of disapointed that their isn't as much traffic as I thought their would be. I am new to all this and just wanted to take the first step to get my pictures out on the web. I have been doing alot of my own advertising on my own website (daisyflyphotos.com). I'm hoping that the site will pick up pace but maybe it's just wishful thinking!!
