 #3 Google ranking: "Microstock Forum"
I just had to say that we are ranked #3 on Google for "microstock forum" and #11 for "microstock" (right now, will probably change any minute )
We'll see how long it last....

I just check your rankings for microstock and microck forum and you are on the first page for both. Keep up the good work. I have been telling my friends to come here first to find out about which sites to join.

This is great. I have noticed quite a few hits to the site from keywords "microstock forum" or "microstock compare". Maybe other people are actually thinking what I was. We need a place to compare all these sites!
Thanks for the info!

Time for an update! You're now:
#1 for Microstock Forum
#3 for Microstock
Nice work.
To log a historical record, Microstock Forum has 82,300 results and Microstock has 173,000 results. Pagerank of home page is 4.
...also, take a look at who's advertising in the search results for Microstock Forum.

Thank is pretty interesting
Well I hope to be revamping the entire site to become an authority for aspiring stock photographers. Right now the forum is slower than "competetors" but the ranking system and comments are still well used. I am trying to come up with a training system where we can help each other not only learn about microstock photography, but learn to adapt to the market and agency changes
Someday....

You must be doing something right to rank higher than more active competitors. Now you just have to figure out what they're doing right to be more active. It's a hard game, but consider yourself lucky that you're not one of the small microstock agencies trying to do the same!

Very true indeed. I think this forum could be better if I was quicker about answering questionad (and removing SPAM). I am trying to check things everyday, but this site doesn't make much money, so I can't invest to much into it.

Catch-22, no? Can't invest the time to make it more popular until it's more profitable - won't be more profitable until it's more popular.
Sounds like what you need are strategic changes. That is, changes that don't take much work but have a big impact. I'm sure you'll find them if you're looking.
A forum doesn't live or die by a single moderator. It's about community, don't you think?

Indeed. My wife runs www.pregnantconnection.com while only logging in once a week. We are both still learning about onlines business and how to be profitable. We start off with the things we love and then try and make good websites, buts thats only the first half. This site has over 300 unique visitors every day (not a ton in general but for a niche like "microstock" its pretty good). I want to make money, but not by tricking people. I want to give them resources, training and a learning community to share ideas. So many people get caught up on the money. I am working on improving the site to help them hang around and get involved.
I would love it if more people commented on the agencies in the ranking area, but I think it is hard to know those comments evern exist. I have some layout changes planned in the future.
BTW: I do appreciate the conversation, sometimes to discuss these thing help me to know that people are actually looking. There are some old features hanging around this site that I need to cleanup (like the featured link at the top) that are from a previous version, I haven't worried because I didn't think that many people really cared.

I reckon around 300 unique people per day care. That's more than enough to get the site making some serious money. How many page view do you get per day? An average eCPM is around US$5, so that's a good starting point to aim for, if you're not already there.
Some of the things I noticed when I first found this forum were that you don't have many ads on the site (many will say that's a good thing), the design is a little aged, and you're not utilizing screen real estate. I think with 300 uniques a day you could easily get this thing inspiring you to spend more time here by earning you some more money. It's just strategy. What blogs / sites do you read on this sort of stuff?
Also, glad the conversation is helpful. For me as well.

Measurement is hard because most of the income of this site is through agency referral fees. However, I also have several other sites that feed into those agencies, and they of course don't have anyway for me to track where people that signup came from.
I am a member on about 5 different forums, but am looking for good eMarketing resources if you have any.
