Create a homepage for yourself and then you are welcome to put that page in your signature on many forums. Most of us don't allow links straight to your fotolia or other portfolio, but you can link to a blog of homepage. Put some of your latest photos straight into the blog (maybe with a watermark), this could show the type of work your do.
The best way I have found to promote my work is personal emails. When someone I know is looking for images, I send them to my work directly and then tell them to look around at others photos if they can't find what they need.
