This is certainly my favourite micro-stock site although it is only my second biggest earner as istock earns me more.

I have a 100% acceptance rate with Shutterstock but only 55% of images get accepted on iStock. Review time quicker at SS around 1-2 days but can be up to 2 wks at IS.

I do find I need to submit at least 1 image every 2 weeks with SS to keep the numbers up with sales. But with iStock I have found sales with my old images just keep growing whereas some of them didn't sell before.

SS sales (135 images) 350-450 downloads per month (average $0.33 per download)
IS sales (65 images) 90-150 downloads per month (average $2 per download)

When I started in 2005, this was the fastest place to make money selling stock images.

Submission process is still the best, but sales slump of quickly. They have soo man images I am not sure it is worth submitting anymore.

Used to be he best agency for starting with because everything was easy (submission, earning money). Now they are much harder on new photogs. Hard to get the first et accepted and harder to make consitant money. Portfolios at Shutterstock are more time sensitive than other places. If you don't keep uploading, earnings drop off quickly.

Shutterstock has the easiest photo submission process of any of the agencies. I have about 100 photos accepted. I have submitted about 200, so lots got denied. after the initial review process everything is straigh forward. My photos earned a lot at first and then tapered off with time.

This is the best agency for instant sales. Because of the way their search engine works, you will always sell more of an image in the first 2 weeks of it being accepted. Their submission process can't be beat.

They are pretty pickly with submissions and the reasons aren't always very helpful for they give for denying. Still one of my favorites and the forums there are a lot of fun. People play games to keep each other going in shooting new and creative images.

Worth checking it out!

As a graphic designer i use shutter stock as a consumer
and a contributor. I download images on a daily basis. The
quality, image size & selection of the images is unbeatable.
As a contributor i can also say that its also a great site.
Its very easy to upload images. Its also fun to see how many
of your images are downloaded on a daily basis. The forums
are also very helpful for a contributor to "learn the ropes".

Shutterstock is my top earning microstock agency. I took me over two months to get my first set accepted (this can be very hard these days). The are well worth the effort especially if you keep shooting and pay attention the the feedback they give.

This site flips back and forth between #2 and #3 of my top earners. It is mostly subscription sales so I don't earn much per image, but they sell a TON. Submission process is still the easiest of all the microstocks (at least of the ones that actually make me money). Highly recommended!
