Overview1. When did your site go live on the internet? We went live in November 2005 so as you can see we are a very young site. 2. How many total images does your site have? 6,000 images online and growing rapidly. In fact we have had many more than this submitted but only the best get accepted onto the site. 3. How many images do you accept into your database weekly? It varies but for November we had almost 3,000 images uploaded in our first month and over 2,000 in December. This was the initial influx when photographers upload large portions of their portfolio. It has tailed off a little and now we get around 500 a week, however, as we get new photographers the numbers tend to rise again but on average around 600 a week. Those are the figures for accepted images. 4. Is your site offered in more than one language? Which ones? No, only English at the minute. For Designers1. Are you a subscription-based, per photo sale, or combination website? We are a per photo sale site, however, our price per image is low and there is no minimum order. 2. How many total members does your site have? We've only just introduced a member system which is starting to take off. Members can register for free and this gives them access to unlimited lightboxes with the ability to email those lightboxes to potential clients. The images in the lightbox also have a direct link to the photo for sale so photographers could take advantage of this too by sending lightboxes of their own portfolio to people that have made photo requests. 3. Do you offer free images? How many at a time? How often do they change? Yes we offer free images. Photographers have the option to choose any of their images to go into a free category. They change as often as photographers make a request. For Photographers1. How many photographers do you have actively submitting work?200 photographers and growing. Like all sites, not all of the registered photographers are active, however, our active photographers are busy and the majority contribute images on a regular basis. 2. What is your compensation scale? 35% flat rate for all photographers, however, we are thinking of increasing this when a portfolio reaches a certain size to 40% for portfolios of 500 or more and 50% for portfolios of 1,000 or more. 3. Do you sell separate sizes of image for different prices? No, all our images are sold at the same price of $2.00. We think this makes it easier for buyers in the long run. 4. What is your Min Image size? (dimension, megapixels or both) Minimum size is 1600 x 1200 pixels although most of our images are larger than this. 5. What is your Max Image size? (dimensions, megapixels or both) Theoretically, we do not have a maximum size. the only limitation is that the jpg file shouldn't be more than 6MB. Some of our images are as long as 6,000 pixels. 6. What is a url for more information about signing up as a photographer? http://www.microstockphoto.com Referral1. Do you offer a referral program? No we don't. We believe that all of the commission on an image should go to the photographer. If we could pay out more commission then we would rather the photographer earns it. Business Information* Where is your business physically located (not an address, but at least a country/state)? We are a UK based site. * How many people are on the reviewing team? At present just 1 however, as the numbers grow, so will the review process. |
