I am really getting frustrated with microstock. I have been working at it for about 8 months now and have what I consider to be a good portfolio. I am having a hard time making more than $700/mo.

That is not bad, don't get me wrong, but its not a full time income thats for sure. Does everyone else have this platueua as well? Those that do this full time, how do you shoot enough and keyword/upload enough to make more than this. My Shutterstock payments haven't gone up in months, it take every new image just to keep them flat lined.

Well I wouldn't quit - not when you are making $700/m. That is more than what people make on the unemployment benefit in my home country (adjusted for foreign exchange rates).

why not take a holiday, refresh the batteries. your earnings may drop a bit but you aren't using it to survive on are you?? that will give you the time to think whether it is worthwhile or if your time is better spent elsewhere.

I agree. You seem to be making pretty good money.

The nice thing about stock photography is that if you "quit shooting" you don't have to instantly quite earning. Thing will slow down over time (especially at Shutterstock). But why take you stuff off? Take a vacation form it and let the market make you a little cash for "free" (at least for no additional effort).

I really believe that things are going to continue to grow though. Many photographers are going to come and go, but those who stick things out will have a great profolio and strong sales in the long run.
