The great thing about stock photography is that it is your content, not your camera that gets you the sales. Something decent, perhaps over the $500 mark is enough to get started.

I prefer to submit the largest files I can from a 35mm format digital camera (the MF cameras could obviously do better). That being the case, the Canon 1DsII at 16.7MP is the current leader in that race so it's what I use. I wish that Nikon had come out with a full-frame body but they didn't so I switched to Canon two years ago at a considerable cost. I waited and waited and waited for Nikon to get with the program......I finally got sick of waiting. I eBayed my Nikons and bought all new gear.
