I first got into stock photography as a designer about a year ago. I design billboards and needed an image of some food. I stubled upon ShutterStock, but didn't have the money, nor the need for a subscription. I finally found iStockPhoto and purchased this image:
And its been downhill since there. I now buy and sell stock photos all the time. I find myself intrigued with the systems and all the sites that are popping up. It has taken me a year to discover what I consider to be all the best stock sites.
You see the problem is that they don't all show up on Google. But even harder for a photographer or designer is the fact that you can't respectfully talk about one agency in the forum of the another. You see members using initials and tip-toeing around the rules, but I have never found a good place to share. So here it is!
For Designers
For designers we hope that you find find one place that you can go to post a photo request and receive ideas from many different sources. We hope you will share what you want with us.
For Photographers
This site will hopefully become the resource I didn't have. There is a listing of all the stock sites that I know about that are more than a few months old. There is rankings to help you see where people are actual buying pictures from. Share Photoshop tips and other photographer like information.
Feature Photos
Right now the featured photos are either free images, images I have used in the past, or my images. Please check out the Featured Image forum to get your image up there.
Please reply to this post with any initial comments or ideas for this board.
