I have been doing some beta testing with them. THere are a few things they need to work on, but they have mad huge strides even in just the past week to get things running much smoother for contributors.

A good marketing strategy is in place as well.

Hi John...

I've been having some trouble uploading and logging on. have you had any compatibility issues with Safari?

I was able to upload several hundred images...but my FTP connection got cut off with about an equal number left to go. Since then I've had trouble getting on.

I appreciate your help. Since I couldn't log on this evening, I decided to try here. Smile

Cheers,

Scott

Just a follow-up. All my images seem to be in place and I'm having no trouble with the site. Maybe just temporary HTML gremlins.

Cheers,

Scott

I'm having a lot of problems with FTP. The directory will not create. I use filezilla. Not really sure what is going on. I keep getting the error that the directory was not created and permission is denied.

Post Still Having Trouble
Even though my FTP messages said the connection failed...all my images came through. There were 900...so I was happy they didn't get cut midway meaning I would have had to figure out which ones made it and which didn't.

I spent about 4 hours last night attaching model releases, etc. I got about 75% through my stuff when the site slowed way down. I think everything I logged in is OK, but now I can't navigate to any of my images...pending or still needing to be submitted.

It just feels like the site is a little glitchy. I know that happens since these sites are quite complex. I've tried both Firefox and Safari with similar results. That's been my experience since initially signing up. It works for a while then I can't get in...then good again.

Basically, I like the interface and the ease of use when it's all working. Smile

Quick update...

While I was typing the last post, I was able to get in a little deeper. The pages are very slow to load, but it seems that if I reload I can get somewhere. Smile The positive thing is that all my pending files seem to be sitting in the pending folder. That's good news...my work last night didn't get bumped.

Hey Scott,

Yeah we are switching servers over the next couple of weeks at night so the site may be slow. We are moving to Amazon web services if you know them. I am really excited for it. Sorry for the slowdown but that is only temporary and I think you will be very happy w the new speed of the site when we are done.

Marsburg,

If you are still having issues using Filezilla let me know. I can walk you through it but you should be fine using that and others are able to do it no problem. Let me know if I can walk you through the steps Wink

Thanks

Hey Marburg, Here you go.

FileZilla

1. Create an account for the Cutcaster FTP. Open the Site Manager (File > Site Manager).
2. On the Site Manager dialog box, click New Site button and set the name of the site (ex. Cutcaster FTP).
3. Under the General menu tab, put in www.cutcaster.com as the Host, Servertype: FTP File Transfer Protocol, Logontype: Normal and enter login information as User: anonymous and leave the password field blank.
4. On the Advanced menu tab, place in under Default remote directory: <your Cutcaster FTP folder ID>. (Your Cutcaster FTP Folder ID is shown on the upload start page of the site).
5. After reviewing the account details, click OK button. Your Cutcaster FTP account is now set.
6. Connect to the Cutcaster FTP account.

NOTE: You will also notice that you will receive an error message: 550 Permission denied. That is okay. That is telling you that you cannot view the folder contents. This is for security reasons.

7. Transfer/upload your files to your Cutcaster FTP folder . Once you have finished uploading ALL the files, go back to the site and click the refresh button on the upload start page and your files will be processed.

NOTE: Do not click the refresh button while some files are still being uploaded through FTP. Click only the refresh button after ALL the files have been successfully transferred.

8. After clicking the refresh button, you will now be able to see your files on the site and process them.

NOTE: For files that have IPTC data, they will be automatically placed on the Submit page of the upload system.

Let me know if you have a problem or need it for a different FTP client. I have directions for a bunch of them.

Post Smooth Sailing
Thanks John,

Today it was a breeze to get on CutCaster and get things loaded. I'm looking forward to my first sales...

Good luck on that server move. Never fun. Smile I owned a company a few years back with some partners that did graphic design and web stuff in addition to TV and Photo work. So I know the great human/server divide. I think we serve them...maybe we should switch names?

BTW, thanks for putting my "Corporate Backstabber" on your front page.

Cheers,

Scott
